The hotel, owner, and employees were all wonderful. We were willing to step back into time and do without some of the luxuries of today (like private bath) and loved it. The whole experience was reminiscent of staying in the 1920s. McCarthy makes a truly great escape from 2009. more

The Ma Johnson's Hotel is a comfortable place with a quality that is far better then what is typically found in a wilderness area. It appeared to have been recently redone but had a rustic feel and appearance. I would highly recommend it. It is located in a place I would also highly recommend for a visit. more

Neil Darish welcomes you to the Lodge as if he welcomes you in his own home. It is complete in style of the early 1900'ds, but with all nowadays conveniences. Beautiful historic hotel! My sister and I stayed at the Ma Johnson's and enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the town of McCarthy pass by. The hotel is clean and they give you home-made soap and lavender lotion! The best part in my option was the sheets! They were heavenly! more
