Rarely have I stayed in a hotel with as much character & personality as this one. An amazing 500+ year old building, crammed with original features. Its huge open fireplace must be a big hit during the winter months. Reading previous reviews, I find it hard to believe that these people actually stayed at the same hotel as I did,... more

Well, this hotel is a mixed bag, as in bizzarre. A group of us had been booked in to all the rooms for a night for a job we were doing. My wife and I were among the first to arrive, struck lucky and were allocated one of the ground floor posh bedrooms. Very comfortable they are, too. Lots of... more

Our two night stay was a pleasant surprise in view of previous comments about this hotel. It is small but the quality is not. Situated centrally, within a two minute walk of Clark's Shopping Village and Street centre. Our room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed and en-suite facilities. Slightly dated but this did not detract from... more

We were there in June, cottage feel to the hotel and we were told it was family run. Nice resturaunt with interesting menu, the best rooms were on the ground floor but they were all taken, told that they always sell first.First floor rooms are being up-graded,but comfortable.Good car parking and convienient for the towns attractions, mainly shopping. Average cost for good bed and... more

I stayed in one of the unmodernised rooms on the second floor. It was rather charmless with dated decor, cheap carpet and creaky floors. There was no hairdryer and no TV remote. The bathroom was OK. The service was abrupt, maybe just verging onto rude. The staff seemed to be under pressure, but certainly not from anything we did. Breakfast... more

This place was awful - arrived to be greeted with "sorry you can't eat here tonight we have a party in ". Terrible decor, nervous about using the shower that looked as tho' it was ready to collapse. Creaky floors! Unfriendly staff. Overcharged on checkout charged for a family room - not requested - and when queried - the staff... more

So a trip in to the unknown. A town with no hotels on Trip Advisor. Picked this out of 3 on the same street by looking at their web entries. This one is centrally located with good parking. Welcomed at a rather odd reception hatch that you might mistake for something else. This is located by the back entrance from... more

We stayed for one nght in a twin room at the top of the hotel. The room didn't look anything like the pictures of the rooms on the web site and it hadn't had any new furniture for a long time. Even the TV dated from a time before remote controls were introduced. I wouldn't stay there again. more

Stayed here for a wedding. The room was ok however the bed was way past it's sell by date. When we reported this the next day the hotel staff were very unhelpful. I'm not moaning over a little thing I am very easy going, but the mattress was non existant and really uncomfortable and we were made to feel terrible... more
