My son and I visited Saija for a week during the Easter holiday. The main purpose of our trip was to go dog sledging.

We booked via the ever helpful Activities Abroad. We had travelled with them before (example, see my tripadvisor review of Hariniva) and were keen to experience another part of Finland.

Saija means "the quiet place" in the Sami language. It lives up to it's reputation. It is situated adjacent to Lake Jokijärvi - obviously frozen over whilst we were there.

The centre comprises of a series of wooden lodges and a single storey block of comfortable rooms (each comprising a bed room, living area/Kitchenette, bathroom/shower and private sauna).

The room we stayed was clean, in good condition, warm and had a decent TV which received the local free to air services - some of which had imported English language programmes.
