Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We always look for a special way to ring in the New Year, and we made the right choice staying at Storyteller's Palace. The hospitality is outstanding, even before arrival. I had a lot of questions about booking for the special NYE event and Marco promptly responded with lots of information about the exciting schedule. We were completely convinced that this was going to be something special. Then leading up to the holiday, I had a few more questions. Márcia and Miguel responded quickly so that we were fully prepared for our stay. Upon arrival, we had such a warm welcome from Márcia and Miguel. We had lunch in the restaurant which looks out onto the bay, a beautiful view. Our server was Iris, who answered any questions about the menu and provided excellent service. Marco even came out and introduced himself, and we talked about the exciting schedule for the evening. For the special NYE dinner, we had reserved seating where special care was taken to seat people together based on their language spoken, so we could enjoy nice conversation throughout the evening. There were so many delicious courses, but our favorite that evening was the duck. Then we enjoyed watching the fireworks from the hotel balcony, and moved to the DJ party at the Gatsby Bar--where we met more wonderful people, watched the bartender make cocktails like a movie star, and danced the night away. This was a New Year's Eve celebration to remember, thank you to everyone at Storyteller's Palace for this spectacular event.

We had afternoon tea here and it was just lovely. Delicious baked goods and sandwiches, together with an interesting range of teas to try! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They catered perfectly for my gluten free dietary requirements too! A perfect afternoon treat.

The Presidendial Suite (John le Carré) is the most cosy room with an amazing view facing the sea and an intimate private terrace. Many meals are required to discover all the dishes and fabulous desserts of the Green Room Restaurant.

To be honest, I don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel.  You are close to the beach. Everyone is so helpful, and friendly.  If you want, you don't even need to bother finding a restaurant for your meals.  Breakfast is excellent, and their ratatouille is amazing! Chef Marco's food is as tasty as it can be, and you should for sure try it, even if you are not staying in the hotel. Finally, their Sangria de Espumante com Frutos Vermelhos is top-notch!

This amazing hotel is located right at the seafront on the most convenient part of the long beach of Sao Martinho do Porto. It is simply the best and most beautiful hotel in town with an extremely welcoming staff and a true professional management.

Hotel closed with a lock on the gate (July 12 2019), saw too many foreign tourists looking for accommodation and finding the hotel closed with a "closed" sign on the door. Considering the positioning of this unit, right in front of the beach it will be a shame if it remains out of business, especially in a place with such few hotels available.

I really liked my room! It had a vintage telephone and unique shower head. The curtains were lush and bed super comfortable! The views at breakfast were out of this world! The staff were helpful in offering a place for me to work, coffees, sights to see, and more. Highly recommend!

This is a historic property located across from the beach. The rooms have lots of character and charm. The staff were very friendly. The property also provided a lovely breakfast in the morning. From the property you are able to walk around town and along the beach. It also had a lovely patio for enjoying the view. The only issue we had was the WiFI password did not work.

This is a lovely small boutique hotel with 11 rooms. We had the most expensive and apparently the best room in the hotel. On the first floor it has a solarium on the roof above. The photo is the access to the solarium through a mirror!! A haven of solitude!! Breakfast is great with a wide range of choice. The public areas are traditional decor which is what I like so no complaints there!

As soon as we pulled up outside someone rushed out to help unload our car, then went with my husband to show him the private parking which was just around corner. Room quite small but had everything you needed. Very good shower. There was a terrace off the breakfast room where you could have tea and cake and just watch the world go by listening to the sound of the waves. There was also an upstairs terrace which we didnt use but again had a lovely view. Breakfast very good. Hotel located right opposite lovely beach. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Would highly recommend.
