Nice owner operator, good location. Basic simple functional New Zealand motel. Clean & comfortable enough for an overnight or weekend stay. Some people would enjoy longer. Walking distance to everything. Shame about the guitar player at 1am, hopefully a one off!!

We stayed one night. They were very welcoming and the small spa welcome after a long day. I found the room rather basic and lacked what most New Zealand motels have - a separate sink unit. Although quite a large motel there are a lot of better ones in New Zealand.

We only needed 1 night's accommodation in Raglan & that was hard to find at height of season in B&B's or bachs. However the Sunset Motel was perfect for our needs. The King studio had good little kitchenette too. The owner was really friendly & helpful. Being so central was great too.

Rooms are large, just a bit 80's in their look and decor. With a refurb this place could be fantastic. Suggest you stay in a unit running along the Bankart side or in the inner court yard. We spent one night here. It was noisy as a 50th birthday was being celebrated. The party finished at 10 pm but there was still a lot of noise till the early hours of the morning. It was a good location and handy to town but it was overpriced for what was provided,
