We dont usually go on 'mini-breaks' but I was certainly glad we decided to book into the Wheatsheaf on our weekend visit to nearby Bath. The warm welcome and high-end accommodation made up for the terrible weather! The bar and restaurant are certainly worth a visit as the food is amazing and the atmosphere is lovely on a cold evening.... more

Deep in the country with a roaring fire when we went this lovely old Inn is but a 10 min drive from the historic town of Bath. With boutique standard rooms, walk in shower and gorgeous view over the rolling countryside it was great to also find charming and helpful staff, first class service and outstanding food -that is worth... more

My wife booked this hotel for a Birthday break in the Somerset countryside. It was a wonderful suprise, normally we stay in larger properties, but with just 3 bedrooms, staying at the family run (including dogs!) The Wheatsheaf is more like staying in someone's home. The rooms are converted stables and have a very rustic feel while at the same... more

The rooms are a good size, well furnished and come complete with homemade biscuits, coffee, tea and chilled mineral water. Other beverages and food were available at additional cost. The bed is firm with very comfortable bedding. The bathroom is good but the sink is too small. The breakfast is very good with an excellent range of choices. The restaurant... more

This is a wonderful place, with fantastic food and great service. The garden is lovely and offers the chance to relax in the sunshine with a pre-dinner drink. Service is very friendly and welcoming. Equally, the food is of a very high-standard and couldn't be faulted - no pub grub in sight. We booked one of the rooms for an... more

Myself and friends visited the Wheatsheaf, Combe Hay for some food on Easter Bank Holiday and when we arrived were informed that it was a brunch menu. Due to how busy the restaurant was we kicked back with a pint and admired how beautiful the gardens were and what an amzing setting we were looking at. The bar offers a... more

We booked two nights at the Wheatsheaf through 'Mr and Mrs Smith' with a special offer of two nights for the price of 1. This made the break excellent value. We arrived and received a very warm welcome. Our room was decorated tastefully in neutral colours and had a huge, comfy bed. Facilities were good including fresh milk in the... more

We went for an Easter Monday lunch. We were told on the phone that it was a gourmet brunch menu, which sounded o.k.. This turned out to be 90% egg based and very limited- not a whisper of fruit or veg. Our guests' bacon sandwiches at £5.50 were one slice of bacon on white bread -no garnish. My kedgeree on... more

It was a one night stay booked for us by our children as a Christamas present, and what a night we had! The room was beautiful only metres from the restaurant situated in a converted stable block; the feather duvet was a joy. The food was divine and breakfast delicious.... the house spaniels were very friendly! If only we had... more
