We've stayed here 3 times over the last 2 years. Each time was for the Tongariro Crossing. There's always been a large group of us so we've had the rooms that sleep 6 people.
They are above what you would expect for a Lodge. Would put many 4 star motels to shame.
Clean, tidy, modern and even has a dishwasher!...

Welcome to Plateau Lodge, we are a family run lodge with a variety of accommodation. We cater for single travellers, families or large groups. Our range of accommodation varies from budget beds to private double/family rooms (with or without a bathroom) or a modern two bedroom apartment. Plateau Lodge is located In New Zealand's North Island set in the heart of the National Park Village located on the edge of the Tongariro National Park. We are located at the foot hills of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe, the landscape of sacred volcanoes. Tongariro National Park is a haven for New Zealand's largest & most developed ski area, Whakapapa, Turoa & Tukino, while summer boasts the best one day hike in New Zealand Tongariro Crossing. In summer & winter National Park accommodation boasts spectacular views of all three volcanoes covered in either glistening snow or deep red volcanic rock. National Park accommodation is in a small village with hire equipment, bars, cafes and supermarket they are all in walking distance from Plateau Lodge, a perfect getaway in the Tongariro Park. At $30 per person return we provide transport to The Tongariro Crossing - Check out our timetable & printable Tongariro Crossing Map or transport to Whakapapa Village where shorter walks and breathtaking views dominant the skyline. We also provide transport to the Northern Circuit / Round the Mountain and Mt Ruapehu Hiking Trails. If time is on your hands Tongariro Park hosts many activities from mountain biking to floating down one of the many glacial streams.Dont forget our backyard is home to the mighty Whanganui River, paddle, bike or hike to the Bridge to Nowhere located in the Whanganui National Park, only 45 minutes from National Park accommodation.
