The old bar in this Nelson's old nesting ground is cosy and welcoming. They (at last !) have one decent real ale on offer (Woodfords Wherry) but the new extension, which they insist on calling a coffee bar, does not really meld with the old and should be seperated by a door from the olde worlde part of the bar... A warm welcome was given when we arrived, food was good, the lovely old character bar area gave you a feeling of friendliness, warmth and comfort excellent quality beers and wines were available. As for the refurbishment some what clinical but OK, our room was clean and warm .All in all a pleasant stay.
