Just returned from a really lovely stay at The Royal Hotel. Our bedroom was clean, modern & meet all our expectations with a very comfortable bed! We ate in the Hotel that evening and we could not fault the meal and such generous portions at a very reasonable price. It was a very busy Saturday night and we hadn't booked... More

I visit Bacton 2 or 3 times a year, and bad experiences in local private hotels sent me as far as Norwich in search of my standard, 'safe' Premier Inn choice, but I will probably use The Royal from now on. A lot of money seems to have been spent on the rooms recently. They are to a high standard... More

The old bar in this Nelson's old nesting ground is cosy and welcoming. They (at last !) have one decent real ale on offer (Woodfords Wherry) but the new extension, which they insist on calling a coffee bar, does not really meld with the old and should be seperated by a door from the olde worlde part of the bar... This is an update on my previous visits. it is a pity that Trip Adviser can't or will not delete some old reviews as this affects overall percentage of the establishments current standards. Yes this hotel had its bad days, l stayed here back then and did not have anything good about the place. But that was a very long... More

This was a very well appointed hotel. Not very far away from the sea which, even on a cold day, was a major plus! I really didnt know what to think about this hotel based on the reviews that were extremely mixed! However, I have learnt before that if they reviews are mixed it best just to give it a... More

General: we stayed for one night and had agreed in advance to have a dog room as we have a young dog. We were pleased the hotel was genuinely dog friendly as promised. Service was so welcoming. Food: lots of choice, even for vege food - filling and quick. Great atmosphere in the bar and again, friendly service. The night... More

On the up side: Very friendly staff. Good well run pub bar with well kept beer. Bedroom was clean. On the downside: Expensive for what it is. Premium room was smaller and not any better than a Travelodge or Premier Inn, basic shampoos and soap (no luxury here). Food was substantial but basic, sauces are in sachets cafe style. There... A warm welcome was given when we arrived, food was good, the lovely old character bar area gave you a feeling of friendliness, warmth and comfort excellent quality beers and wines were available. As for the refurbishment some what clinical but OK, our room was clean and warm .All in all a pleasant stay.

I have stayed at The Royal a number of times over the years. In the early days it had some bad revieves, that was then! What a change and its still on going. The problem is since I gave this establishment a couple of good reviews, I now find it difficult to secure a booking without booking well in advance.... More
