Agree with all the reviews: Absolutely stunning location, a 15 minute walk into the Cloud Forest. Meals were at American prices. Dinners ranged from $15 (rice and chicken) to $20 (fish and meat). Wine was $5/glass. Dinners averaged $50/night for two. Breakfast was $5 plus any extras. Breakfast averaged $15/day for two. Taxi to a less expensive restaurant would have... more

We really enjoyed our first visit to the Trapp Family Lodge, in Monteverde, Costa Rica, Oct. 14th and 15th. We were given a “mountain view room” with great view of the beautiful grounds and nearby mountains. The room was spacious with two double beds, and a nice tiled bath with glass shower doors and great shower. The construction utilizes natural... more

As the description says, Trapp Family Lodge is kept in a "lodge" style throughout. It is situated in an absolutely wonderful location, right in the middle of the Monteverde Cloudforest. It is definitely a quiet and peaceful place... at least travelling there in the low season, with almost no other lodgers. It was noticed that the rooms aren't much soundproof,... more

This hotel is right at the edge of the Monteverde Cloud forest so you can look out your window or the dining room windows and see birds and trees and the forest - not other hotels or roads, etc. Very nice plus! It is also quiet. Due to elevation, it gets chilly at night, but the beds have three comforters... more

I can see how someone who is very adventurous and loves the outdoors could really appreciate this place. It is located up on a hill on a dirt path all by itself, and the mountain view room that we got upgraded to was another several flights of outdoor stairs up away from the lobby. So it's very secluded and you... more

We stayed here for two nights after thee nights at Arenal. We thought nothing could top Arenal and we were pleased to find that Costa Rica just got better. The drive to Monteverde is beautiful. Everyone complains about the poor roads, but the scenery makes you forget the bumpy ride. The road up to the Trapp Family Lodge from St... more

We stayed here 3 nights during the middle of our two week wedding trip to Costa Rica. We stayed with our best man and Maid of Honor. It was fun. The hotel is not luxurious but most visitors to the cloud forest go for Monteverde only. We walked to Monteverde in about 10 minutes. The food was good. We also... more

This hotel is wonderful! It is so relaxing! The rooms are huge, the view is wonderful, and the service is great. Everything is beautiful and made out of almond wood. The view is also amazing. You are literally in the cloud forest. You can look out the huge windows in your room and see lots of different birds up close... more

Midway through our adventure packed tour, we stayed at Trapp Family Lodge. Tucked 20 minutes of a very bumpy taxi ride from the center of San Elena, the lodge is a ten minute walk to the Rain Forest Reserve. If you are looking for a lot of amenities like cable, air conditioning, and a pool, you're probably not looking to... more
