We stayed at this hotel as part of a package tip to Costa Rica. The hotel was everything we expected. The rooms are huge, with two queen size beds, a balcony with view over the valley (when the fog gives you a break ;) ) and it has a very quiet and relaxing feel to it. The restaurant is also... more

I stayed at this hotel for one nite, wish I could have stayed longer. The property was so beutiful and very clean, the food was average, and the area was not that bad. I really enjoyed my short stay here, The only down fall was the road up here was very bad and tiredsome, but once you reach the property... more

We enjoyed our stay here although it felt damp (it is in the cloud forest) and there was no A/C or dehumidifier to dry the room out. I think most hotels in this area will feel damp becasue of location. We found the views breathtaking but be prepared to climb the steep mountain or steps as the lodge is situated... more

Room: amazing view, hot water only lasts for about 5 minutes and then you have to turn it off and wait 10 min for the hot water drum to fill up again, very basic furnishings/amenities, water from shower leaks all over bathroom floor requiring 2-3 towels to soak it up Grounds: beautiful yet vast and unnecessary, you would think that... more

We moved to El Establo where friends were staying after a disappointing experience at Monteverde Lodge. The staff was very helpful, the room was nice and the balcony had a picturesque downhill view of the town. My one criticism would be that the hot water tanks at the hotel have very little capacity and we had only a few minutes... more

We stayed at this hotel after coming from a 2-star hotel near the beach, and I was thrilled with the accomodations. It is a more expensive hotel, but we got a pretty decent rate on Expedia. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the bed was very comfortable. A few large insects made their way into the room, but its Monteverde,... more

My husband stayed here after staying in a cabina in Montezuma and felt like we were in paradise. It did feel a bit un-Monteverde but we really enjoyed the big and luxurious room and large windows views. The breakfast buffets were very good with many items to choose from but requires that you wear an annoying wrist band to show... more

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in July. We had an amazing view of Lake Arenal from our room. Friendly staff, great room and good (free) breakfast as well. more

The staff was rude, all around, especially the assistant manager, Raquel Castro, who was most condescending and disinterested in our concerns. Moments after we arrived in our room, our door was opened (no knock) by totally non-English speaking housekeeping staff indicating that they wanted to clean our room. I tried to explain that we had just arrived, and they walked... more

We had a wonderful experience at El Establo on our recent vacation. Our room was very large (had second bed in above loft) and clean, and had great views of the hotel grounds and the mountains from the private balcony. The complementary breakfast was great - complete with buffet style choices and an omelet/pancake station. the staff was all friendly... more
