This was perfect for my daughter and myself. The Hosts, Gerardo and AnaDaisy Camacho helped us with our accommodations, personally woke us up(to not miss our bus), offered great breakfasts, fast computer connections and information on everything in Santa Elena/Monteverde. We will be back to visit next year! more

My family and I decided to take a group tour and this was our hotel for the stay in Monteverde. Overall it was a nice place to stay in a pretty good location. It is walking distance from town, but if you need to take a taxi it is really cheap (Approx 800-1000 colons). The pictures of the hotel currently... more

Hotel has good location with just a short walk to "downtown" Santa Elena. However, beds were not comfortable and pillows were lumpy. Windows were those kind with lots of panels that don't completely seal shut, so many bugs came into our room at night, attracted by our light. Breakfast is only 7-9am, so if you like to sleep on your... more

We've stayed here for three nights in January 2008, and wereally enjoyed it. This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations. The room has a lot of space and is very clean, although it does get chilly during the night. The breakfast was superb - fresh and delicious (with gallo pinto served which I fell in love with). The owners were very... more

This is not my first time traveling to a Latin American country and was surprised that I encountered an unfriendly atmosphere. I recently traveled with a group of students to this B&B. This was our 3rd hotel in a 10 day stay, we stayed here 2 nights. We encountered a few problems while here, there was no public phone available... more

Management response from
Gerardo Camacho, owner

In the policies of the Hotel one settles down that the Telephone of the reception is not lent single in cases of emergencies (in the case of this group they took the telephone without the respective permission), is necessary to mention that at certain moments in our Hotel they have been stayed up to 100 daily Students and to us...

During our 10-day Costa Rica trip, we stayed in about 5 different mid-range hotels. Los Cipreces was the cream of the crop. The shower was very nice, the breakfast was good, and the owner Carlos was exceptionally helpful. Our family of four had a two room "suite." The grounds are nice, and the location is walking distance from town. Really... more

The first review goes into great detail about Los Cipreces, and I agree with everything the reviewer wrote. This family-run B&B is a very simple, but charming place to stay. I loved that there was no TV or phone in the room -- with the wood paneling and the sounds of wildlife outside at night, I felt like I was... more

We stayed two nights at this nice bed and breakfast set in a hilly neighborhood. It was rainy season, and the bugs liked coming in out of the wet, but other than that, it was nice. Your clothes will smell like cypresses after this place, as the rooms are made of the wood. The staff was very helpful. Know your... more
