This is the most misleading hotel of all time! DONT expect top stay in the gorgeous house advertised! DONT expect CLEAN SHEETS, CHECK THE BEDS!! they leave the linen on if they can get away with it! My husband and I stayed here in July, it was a nightmare! corridors and stairs everywhere,..not for the infirm or disabled. The staff... more

The image of this venue is shown mainly around the imposing country house which it is set in is misleading about the reality. What the guests experience is very plain rooms based upon the university hall of residence model - small bathroom with reduced size tub etc. The rooms are also a significant distance from the lovely house down dowdy... more

Excellent hotel for an overnight stay. Grand and sumptuous. Was travelling up north from Essex and stopped off for one night. Room was nice but cold. Heating would not work but a quick phone call and a heater was provided. Nice and helpful staff. They looked tired but always pleasant. Check out was at 10am but a phone call later... more

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday evening as a last minute getaway even though we only live 10 miles away from there. What a lovely "hotel", actually it is not a hotel, it is a conference centre which offers accommodation. Upon arrival, they could not do enough for us, fast check in and Vickie on reception was great. The... more

After reading some of the reviews in tripadvisor, which were not very complimentary, I thought we had made a bad choice but as this was the nearest hotel to our two day appointments we took the chance. We both were glad we did because the hotel itself was really good - the bedroom and bathroom were very clean, the gym... more

I echo the views of other reviewers , this is a conference centre and a poorly managed one at that .I was horrified this week to receive, along with everyone else on their general mailing list an email enclosing an excel sheet showing the personal details of people staying this month , including name, home address , phone etc.! Hardly... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night. As we had checked out the hotels web site beforehand we had a fair idea what to expect. This really isn't a hotel but more of a confrerence centre where the guests are called delegates and your no one if you haven't got a name badge. The staff were helpful the... more

Ok, so conferences are rarely fun, but it does is help when they are held in a decent location. Hayley try, but fail, to meet that need. Their sites are really nothing more than very average hotels that only corporate budget holders would regard as a good buy. Horwood house is probably the worst example of the group. Service is... more

Stayed at Horwood House in October 2005 for 2 nights as booked by my employer for a conference. On arrival I was in awe of the surroundings and accommodation. The long drive really promotes the anticipation of what is inside. A country retreat is what you see when you arrive. Check in was warm and efficient with a high grade... more

This beautiful country house hotel set in acres of ground was so relaxing,we stayed at the weekend which is the quietest time as it is a conference center during the week Be sure to check the hotel is not too busy with a large function during your stay When we stayed there were only 16 rooms let and it truely... more
