This review is partly a response to the “Appeals to particular taste” review by "Notstandingstill" as I was eating the same dinner she is complaining about. Unlike her I really liked the dinner (waterbuck roast with a nice sauce and spaetzle noodles), same applies to the couple who were sitting at my table. We also enjoyed the dinner on our... More

Judging from the website and previous reviews I was looking forward to my stay at Wabi, but nothing prepared me for the avocado green, gold shiny complete with oriental carpet decorated bathroom which was bigger than the dining room into which everybody gets crammed at dinner time and which does not have enough space for the waiters to move around... We would like to respond to this report as following: Unfortunately the report lacks in truth and detail. It does not mention that we were fully booked on that date and of course the Dining room was rather full, but that is just like it is in any other restaurant. After receiving the bad comments on the food served, we... More

Excellent accommodation. A very comfortable suite of rooms with bedroom, big bathroom with full bath as well as shower, living room and patio outside with table and chairs overlooking the waterhole. All immaculately furnished and kept in excellent spotless condition. The main building internally is in the style of old African colonial house. Dining room, bar, sitting room, all beautifully... We arrived at wabi and were very impressed by gardens etc, but our unit, we had requested 2 seperate bedrooms was just all heads! 14 heads of dead animals gazing at us. Also there was nowhere to sit outside our particular unit The owner Christine was very obliging and when we said we were not happy did not make us... More

"Hunting Lodge". Both of the Ladies travelling from RSA booked private over our website from which they were able to get an over-all impression of the Lodge/Bungalows. At the time of inquiry all standard bungalows were booked, we offered a double / twin room in the Garden Cottage, N$ 100 cheaper per person per night, sharing and the clients accepted... More

We were two family's spending our Christmas on WABI lodge. Finding the way here is easy with the first sign already on B1. The last part is a rather tough gravel road but I guess a normal sedan will get you there outside of the rainy season. The surroundings are beautiful. We took a long drive up on the plateau.... More

WABI Game Lodge delivered on all fronts. It is a small, privately owned game lodge well off the beaten track (be prepared for a lengthy, but scenic, dirt road journey to get there), located in the stunning Waterberg Plateau. The intimacy and compactness of the lodge make this an ideal hidaway, where you can forget about the world completely for... More

Located at the bottom end of the Waterberg Plateau although some distance from the highest peaks of the plateau where the best views are at the NWR Waterberg location. Road to the game lodge looks to have been recently improved and no issues getting there in a 2WD. Wabi Game Lodge provides a series of very spacious bungalows (bedroom, large... More

Gracious hosts who extend themselves to make sure every need is taken care of. We went as two hunters and two photographers and both interests were completely satisfied. The food was served elegantly and was wonderful. Accommodations were spacious. (Shower immense!) Great views of so many types of animals visiting the lit water hole at night. Laundry washed and ironed... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
In the wild beauty of the Waterberg Plato lays the ultimate place for individual travelers, who seek for peace and inspiration - WABI.Experience adventurous Africa at WABI Game Lodge. This privately owned Game Reserve, free of Malaria, is nestled at the edge of a dry Riverbed, in which century old by law protected Camelthorn trees are embedded. The park surrounding the Lodge is a verdant delight - one of the most beautiful gardens in the middle of nowhere. Above carefully - attended lawns the acacias are filled with the sounds of Hornbills, Touracos, Babblers and Glossing Starling, while at their bases blue Plumago, Fuchsia, Hibiscus, Laurel Roses and other colorful flowers are growing. Infact, a variety of over 230 bird species can be observed.Nocturnal wildlife such as Porcupine, Springhare, Genet Cat and Bush Babies are living within this garden and during the day you can observe Nyala antelopes sneaking through the bush thickets along the river bed still within the Wabi garden. A Bougainvillea-laden arbour leads to the well equipped air-conditioned Bungalows. It is difficult, indeed, to tear yourself away from the pool, which overlooks one of the waterholes, but then, why should you? After all you are on holiday. Thus, bring sufficient film material along!!Two Cheetahs, veterans from their bush experience and not able to survive the hard life in the wilderness, are also roaming a two hectare enclosure, still wild at heart! The mountain area, namely the breath taking & unique Waterberg Plato invites for adventurous excursions by car or on foot: walk the grounds of the mighty White Rhino. The roads along the edge of the escarpment offer superb views of high, rocky peaks of red sandstone eroded into fantastical shapes and laced with the clinging vines of climbing figs. Of course a smooth glass of red wine or a fruity sip of a superb white wine, to make the most of a spectacular sight of the Plateau at dusk or dawn, will not be missed. The gamedrives allow you to see White Rhino, Leopard, Cheetah, Brown Hyena, Water Buffalo, Roan Antelope, Sable, Waterbuck, Nyala, Red Letschwe, Giraffe, Zebra and even Hippo among many others. All exciting activities are offered at WABI - to get you "up close and personal" with Africa's wildlife. The cuisine serves superb game dishes and of course vegetarians are also taken very good care of.It is worth your while to stay at least 2 days with us at - WABI. ... more   less
