  "The Fujiya is a great, 7-room ryokan in the gorgeous, quaint and idyllic onsen town of Kurokawa onsen. This is an overnight trip from Kumamoto that is highly recommended. The rooms are perfect with all the expected features of onsen rooms, and are named by the days of the week. Staff are extremely accommodating, but I don't know if they are English-speaking. The meals are incredible, as expected, in presentation and taste.Their bath is small, clean and lovely, but not a rotemburo. However, as with all the hotels in the town, you buy a day pass for 1,200 yen and it allows you to visit all the baths you like in the town!   "Conveniently located within an easy three-minute walk to Hitoyoshi station, this ryokan is not only gorgeous on the outside with its main building (recently designated historic property), but on the inside with its beautiful rooms, fantastic meals, and incredible staff. I should have stayed even lo..."nger than I did. With a river lulling me to sleep, I rested comfortably on the futons (but did cheat and piled a few extra on for my Western back). Everything is very traditional, but there's still a flat-screen for those who still need to find out what the weather is going to be like. Breakfast was a collection of small dishes and something that was cooking on the warmer (one day it was ham and an egg, another day it was something else).   "I stayed at Ayu no Sato Hotel in Hitoyoshi, with my parents and sister (and would also recommend the hotel for young couples), for 4 nights and that was not nearly long enough!! Our room had a balcony with a foot spa and a beautiful view of the Kuma river and the Hitoyoshi Castle ruins. There are 2 ..."hot spring bath areas to choose from and each one has a different theme with indoor and outdoor baths of different sizes and temperatures. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with western and japanese choices and we also had dinner at the french restaurant in the hotel, which was fantastic!! Everything was just perfect. The staff were amazing, very helpfull and polite. Even though many of them did not speak english very well there was almost always someone available to translate, and when she was not available, the staff improvised by searching words online and doing everything they could to help.
