While the building is not "old," it's very nice inside and the rooms are large. Each room has an onsen (hot spring)-fed bath with a view over the lake. The service was great, and the food (we had the kaiseki B meal) was absolutely terrific; we were served a nine-course meal delivered with an English-language menu describing each course in detail, and each course was delicious.   "My stay at the Grazie was for business, and it was a very comfortable hotel. I enjoyed it very much! The area of the hotel is on Lake Biwa and it is a lovely place. The room was very clean, and very comfortable. I would stay there again if I had the chance."

Reception staff don't have much English but nobody really does here - its a little of the regular tourist run - charades and a couple of key words in Japanese does the trick.
