The food is good, the waiters attentive and always smiling. But the best part is the birding guides. We have taken several guided birding trips. The morning trips lasted almost 5 hours (2-3 hours is normal at other places), and we saw a wonderful diversity of birds including, of course, the magnificent resplendant quetzal male with full tail feathers. The junior suites are large and nicely appointed. It does get cool in the evening becaus of the altitude (~6000 ft). Yes, the heating isn't really ideal and the rooms are quite a hike from the restaurant and reception, but these are really minor complaints. Of course, one comes here to try and see the legendary quetzal, and although I was afraid that I would be disappointed, our guide Carlos produced in spades.
