Both times we stayed in a premium room which came with a private deck and bath, not to mention a state-of-the-art massage chair. By coincidence, we have been treated to each of these pair of rooms, and this time had the more sought-after Room 201. Being out-of-season, the hotel was quiet, and the breakfast was very traditionally Japanese (no onsen eggs - an onsen hotel meal favorite of mine - was the only disappointment). This hotel is also a short walk from the site of the Fuji Rock Festival, held at the end of July, which must change this summer-sleepy town into a different environment altogether!   "Let me start with the good, which is the location. You can ski or snowboard in and out of the hotel because it is right next to many lifts. While I don't expect everybody to speak English, there were a number of people that could help us get by. Everybody was more than helpful in that aspect. The h..."otel itself is quite large with many rooms, stores and restaurants. There are plenty of places to eat at the resort that include Japanese, American and Chinese food choices. There are ski shops that have just about anything for sale from goggles to jackets to boots. In addition, there is a rental shop that rents skis, snowboards and even sleds. The best value is to book a room that includes meals, then you just take your tickets and eat wherever you want. Even if you have a dinner ticket, you can use it for lunch too. So if you have kids, just share one dinner ticket between them to save money. The good part about Naeba is that there is a kids area that includes sledding, slides and other ... " More >
