  "It is a lovely haveli and the rooms are very nice. It has a beautiful interior courtyard that is very relaxing after a long day. Continental breakfast comes with the room but the staff is a little weird about you asking for anything extra, like more hot water for your tea. I was told it was not poss..."ible (rather sternly). Yes, it is possible, it just costs more. Also had a little trouble paying the night before for my room as I was leaving very early in the morning. When I was leaving in the morning the desk clerk woke up from a dead sleep, went straight for the calculator and told me I needed to pay for the room. I repeated twice that I had paid, and what I had paid (no receipt was given to me the night before). Saying it twice seemed to have the ring of truth and I was allowed to leave. I stayed in five hotels during my Indian adventure and this quirky hotel, with incredibly interesting rooms and suites provided a lasting impression of 18th century opulance in India. I stayed with 10 other people at this place as part of a tour with 'On the Go' and we were ..."the only people there. We visited and compared each of our suites and they were all individual, with columned bedchambers in many and furnishing that reflected the culture and colours of Rajasthan. Sure there were some quirky things that they still need to get right ( the air con was a little noisy, a large bucket to sit on in the shower) but overall it was a fantstic experience. What topped it was our dinner in the open air interor courtyard on the seconf floor. Open to the skies it provided a magical evening backdrop. Local players and dancers provided traditional entertainment whilst we ate, and a nice touch was a local craftsman showing how he hand- crafted bangles of all colours, wh... " More >
