However, we were sorry that we didn't eat here. It was a particularly warm day and the outdoor area is truly beautiful. Walking through the hotel if felt like a really nice, quiet place to stay.   "We've stayed at Gripsholms Vardshus and Hotel several times, and it always charms us. The rooms are bright, and the slightly elevated old beds make it feel like grandma's house...except her beds weren't that comfortable. There are plenty of alcoves in the common areas to read a book or gather with..." friends. Breakfast is ample and varied, although it does seem that the guests aren't terribly skilled at making their own waffles. Staff members are helpful but not intrusive. Stepping into the town of Mariefred, it seems that you are traveling back in time. It's the perfect setting for this lovely old hotel, and Gripsholms Vardshus is an ideal place to relax for a few days when you need a break in a busy travel schedule. " More >
