  "I have stayed at this hotel 6 times, most recently a week ago. Great service ...food and bar if the place isn't crowded. More than 1/2 full seems to throw everything off a little but I will go back again. Great view."

  "I spent my bday with my wife and my in-laws here. The room was a two bedroom suite for a really affordable price that included a fully equiped kitchen, full balcony and two living room areas as well as a dining set. Balcony had access to the hotel pool and bar. Fridge was a really good plus, it ..."kept my beers cold and the food for the family accesible. Traveling with only women they all wanted to cook something for me to celebrate. It also has an access to the boulevard which runs along the lagoon. A store is beneath the hotel were you can find most of things (milk, cheese, tortillas, even shampoo and candles). We went to explore and restaurants are near-by as well as the San Felipe fort, which is a landmark of Bacalar. The hotel has its own beach club a few block from there, with easy acces to the lagoon, a small pier and some non-motorized equipment (surcharge) and place to camp.   "We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Casita Carolina: a cool, fun, quirky place with lovely homely rooms and beautiful gardens right by the lake. The room we stayed in was large in size but small in price (in comparison to other places we stayed in the Yucatan). The room was so comfy, it felt like..." staying at your aunt's place, with little personal touches and decoration; not your average hotel room. The grounds are perfect for relaxing with a lovely dock that you can swim off of. The garden looks even prettier at night when all the twinkly fairy lights get switched on. The hotel was well-ran and I found it very easy to reserve a room via email. The hotel managers were friendly Americans with lots of stories to tell; it was great to sit around in the evening chatting to them as well as the other guests.
