The owners were incredibly helpful & friendly - informal, yet super-efficient. They obviously care a great deal about this place and their customer service - we were really looked after.   "What a find! My wife and I stayed here for three nights together with her family who were visiting from Canada. Everything about the Old School House exceeded our expectations which made our stay in the Lake District even more memorable. David and Sarah are the best hosts you could ever ask for and ..."the house is a delight. Everything was so comfortable and nothing was ever too much trouble, from the welcoming afternoon tea and cakes to the complimentary cheese and biscuits and port in the evenings. The rooms are beautiful and the overall ambience of the place is first class. David's suggestions of places to visit and best routes to drive there really made our holiday. I have visited the Lakes many times in the past and have to say that Hawkshead is the best base for getting to all surrounding attractions and the village itself is lovely - very peaceful with four excellent pubs/eateries.
