  "On our way up to Loch Lomond but thought we come and see Dumfries and Galloway; the Ship Inn was our first 2 nights accommodation, and it was excellent. The room - on the top floor - was abit of a struggle with suitcases, but once we were up there it was worth it. The room was huge, with windows on ..."two sides making it very light and airy. Our room overlooked the Fleet on one side. The bathroom was large with separate shower cubicle and bath. We ate there both nights and had a good meals; the selections for breakfast were varied including a full 'Scottish' breakfast, smoked haddock and a poached egg, smoked salmon and scrambled egg, kippers - the choice just went on and on. The town of Gateway of Fleet was one of the prettiest in this part of Scotland, with wide streets and whitewashed houses - very different from the pebbledash houses seen in a lot of other towns.
