You can cook and do the things you need to as long as you don't expect to do dinner parties! We catered entirely for ourselves but the owners do offer breakfast. There is a small supermarket in Husavik and a few restaurants - fish soup is good, and a petrol station. There is wifi but not reliably in our cottage. There is plenty to do: scrambling around in the marshes admiring the birdlife, take a rowing boat for a sedate trip around the lagoon, and then there is Husavik itself (the Penis museum has decamped to Reykjavik you will be disappointed to hear), but the whale museum is very well worth a visit.   "We spent one night in Brekka before our Whale Watching trip in Husavik. Cottages was really nice but it was really hard to found this accomodation because we didnt use the right road ... and also, the same road from opposite direction is not well marked with map, where is what ... we tried to use 3 ..."gps devices and we couldnt find it :) ... so we had to ask some locals for a way (sometiumes its really difficult to find someone in Iceland :) ) ... staff in guesthouse speak great english ... what i love to highlight is food ... i have awesome lobster soup here, i ate so freakin lot of it, so i had no free space for second ordered main course which was also great (trout) ... breakfast was good too :) ... high recommend for friends, families, etc ... cca 20 minutes from Husavik ... only one problem was with internet which doesnt work so good ...
