The chateau is only about 6-7 minutes from Blaye. When we woke up the next morning, we had a very nice breakfast in the main house, and they arranged for us to tour the vineyards and cellar after breakfast. This private tour was the best we ended up having in Bordeaux, as was the wine. The chateau is about a 30 minute drive from Bordeaux, so is best for a couple looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway.   "My family and I stayed at Chateau Rouselle for one night in December and were very impressed with the quality and high standard of the accomodation, aesthetic of the winery and cellar, and mostly with the taste of the wine. My husbnd declined so I went alone and the owner allowed me to take 2 glasses back to the room so we could persuade my husband to try it. The plan worked, and he loved one of the less expensive but very drinkable wines called Le Soif de Vincent. We ended up buying 12 bottles! The accomodation was fantastic- especially with 2 small children (3 & 6 yrs). We stayed in the room called Malbec which has a large double bed and bathroom on the ground floor, and above there was a loft with 2 singles where the kids had room to play while we relaxed downstairs. The fishmonger and the on site French take away are excellent. and the butcher where you can barbeque what you have bought, boutique, 2 beach shops. Suggest you take your own bikes if possible although there is cycle hire on the site. . There are lots of activities, boule, archery, horse riding, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools to name a few and day trips in high season.
