The building is fabulous! I fell in love with it years ago and I am sure it would be a huge project to get it back into shape. But what a fabulous venue this could be for a number of really BIG functions. And in the right hands this place could become a gold mine. I just wish I had the money to invest - - - but frankly it doesn't just need an injection of capital, it needs a visionary to take it over … or maybe just a TV chef to help turn this place around.   "This is a delightful and quirky hotel. It has a splendid, quiet and lovely location, but it has seen better days. The new managers, Rosie and Amy are honest and forthright, bravely making their way forward. We could not fault their friendly and efficient service. We were part of a walking group ..."that descended for a weekend, and dinner in their comfortable conservatory was delicious. The bar and lounge are also very comfortable indeed, supplemented by a log fire reminiscent of a 1920's pheasant shoot. The full English breakfast saw us well fortified for our Sunday's walk and the bill for everything was very reasonable. However, blinker yourself to the hotel's very minor shortcomings, and look, consider and enjoy the good bits. It could also do with being better supported by locals. " More >

For three walkers covering up to 11.5 miles a day, the owners willingness to transport us to and from our walking points for a very competitive price was an absolute bonus, allowing us to stay for three nights. Following a hot shower/jacuzzi we would find a tray of hot tea and homemade cakes set in front of a log-burning stove in the sitting room - perfect. The owners are a delight.
