They are an excellent role model in the tourism industry, setting very high standards. If you miss Pauls place, you will regret. The rooms are superb - all look out to Hanson Bay with floor to ceiling windows and yet have complete privacy. I loved being able to walk around naked without having to draw the curtains. I kept the door to the terrace open at night (there's a bug screen) to allow the sound of the crashing waves to flood into the room and the ocean breeze to keep the room cool without the need of air conditioning.   "Our family of five visited SOL 5 years ago. The photos depict well its stunning location. Given the small, intimate nature of the lodge, we often roamed the beach by ourselves. No sign of civilization except us and the lodge --- nothing else is visible and there is no marine traffic. That alone m..."akes the place incredibly special. We had a suite with a sunken living room, large terrace and a glass walled bath in the master bedroom. It was understated elegance befitting the setting. The food was delicious, local, and innovative. The only pool was quite small and off the dining area (not really for kids). But my kids did love playing with SOL, the resident baby Wallaby. It is quite remote to get to Kangaroo Island, and I am not sure I would recommend it. Certainly not over say, Tasmania, or Lizard Island.
