  "Our family of 5 adults and our 2 year old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day and 4 night stay here. We were met at the Puerto Maldonado airport, transferred to the dock, traveled down river to the lodge and given the keys to our thatched roof cabanas with comfortable beds, private bath/show..."er, porch with table, 2 chairs and 2 hammocks. The grounds are filled with tropical flowers, fruit trees, resident macaws, parrots and a toucan. The pool was refreshing and frequently used at all times of day and night. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, plentiful and served by helpful waiters. By far, the best thing about our stay was our amazing, personal guide, Jose. His English was excellent and his knowledge of the local flora and fauna was incredible. We took multiple hikes through the forest and he would frequently stop and show us a plant and discuss its uses or an animal and describe its life cycle.   "I was really quite worried about visiting the jungle in Peru but this hotel was fabulous Other people we met up with who went to another hotel had much longer transfers and no electricity! Rooms were in separate bungalows - noise had to be kept down as rooms were open except for mesh to stop the m..."osies! Beds turned down at night and kerosene lamps put in rooms as electricity goes off at 10pm Food excellent Guides so knowledgable and trips really interesting -some a little harder on the feet than others Take lots of mossie repellent and long sleeved shirts Didn't try the spa but was told by another guest that the massage was one of the best she had ever had!   "This Inkaterra ecolodge is situated in the jungle, on the banks of the Madre de Dios river, about a 45-minute boat ride from Puerto Maldonado. Meals are served in a main lodge three times a day. Lunch and dinner are a la carte waiter service, different than sister property Hacienda Concepcion's buffet-style approach. Food is a good mix of American comforts (hamburgers, sandwiches, fries) and regional specialties like quinoa soup and bamboo-steamed fish. Also included are jungle excursions led by experienced, professional, friendly guides. Best that we went on were the canopy walkway and the Lake Sandoval hike/canoe ride.
