In addition to taxi (around 100 Reals to Copacabana), there is a bus to Copacabana/Ipanema that passes right by the hotel every 20 minutes (6 Reals), and takes 45 minutes to get there, and there is also a ferry boat across the bay that will take you to Lapa - you will enjoy the view during your sail. The rooms are nice and clean, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fine. This is not a 5-star hotel, but still is a good choice. The location - Icarai Beach in Niteroi, is pleasant.
