Some reviews have criticised the staff as being inexperienced, and there may be some truth in that, but the local staff more than made up for that with their helpfulness and, and their willingness to spend time talking about Iceland. Every request we made was dealt with quickly, and without any expectation. As regards to the food, the menu is limited but plenty to cover a 3 night stay, and overall very good indeed (my wife says excellent so maybe somewhere between the two!).   "We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the lake for night in May, as a couple. Checked in at 15:00, they walk you to the room and show you around.. The room was very bright, modern, clean and had a really good shower and the bed was extra comfy! We went straight to the spa, witch we had all to ou..."rselfs and It has a really nice hot tub and sauna :) We got a very good local deal for a one night stay, spa acsess, with 3 course dinner and breakfast buffet.. wich was very nice! And you could even squeeze your own fresh juice from fresh fruits! They have a beautiful bar called The Northernlights bar, witch is very modern as well and just like a glass house, and you can sit there and enjoy the amazing view, relax and have drinks. They had a really nice selection of Icelandic beers witch was a big plus and nice cockteils :) The bartender Bjarni var extremly nice and didn't have any trouble keep making us drinks even though we knew they were "closing" the bar and there for made our nigh...   "Cool hotel, Can be Difficult to Access Off Season"
  "We stayed here because we got a great deal and it seemed to be very convenient to see many of the attractions in the area. While the hotel is extremely convenient, we had to do some white-knuckling on route 360 to get out in our 2WD rental car. Being naive of how variable Icelandic weather can be ..."in April, we may be to blame for this The hotel itself is hideous from the outside (looks like a prison), but is beautiful on the inside, which can definitely be described as "Scandinavian Minimalist." The room was great, and we especially liked the shower. The hotel bar had a great view of the adjacent mountains and meadow. The spa was great, very comfortable, and also offered a beautiful view of the surroundings. Since there were so few people staying in the hotel and consequently few people working there, the service was a little spotty (we had to go to the front desk to order a beer in the bar).
