We'd come for the views and the walks so weren't concerned that the food choices within the park wasn't as extensive as in a city ... we'd recommend that visitors bring in a few things cos not everythings's plentiful or cheap to buy. Charlie,..." the day manager, was very helpful ... we couldn't speak any Korean but Charlie has a good command of our language so there was no problem, he supplied maps to the walks in the park. We didn't speak much with the night manager so can't say if English communication is or isn't a problem, but he certainly was able to understand us well enough to order our taxi for us the morning we deplarted. Taxis to and from Sokcho cost about 1500 Wan each way. The view from the balcony is very special, we had a room on the third floor facing the mountain. Take the lift to the top of the nearby mountain, take the walk, climb to the peak [but perhaps not if it's been raining or is windy], it's pretty special.... " More >

After a short 5 minute walk from the bus station, we checked in and the owner sat us down with a map. By the time we walked into our room, it seemed we knew everything about the town. The bus stop to Seoraksan is right in front of the hostel and easy to navigate. Based on his recommendations we had amazing bqq (all you can eat for 10,000 won per person, a huge deal), the best hodduk, and delicious fried chicken. They helped us find the bus schedule to Daegu. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the kitchen was nice. I would 100% stay here if we came back to Sokcho. " More >
