  "As I was planning to come to Maramures but had no idea where exactly to go. Someone at the hostel where I stayed in Cluj recommended this Village Hotel in Breb, one of the small towns in Maramures. Going there isn't straight forward. First you have to take a bus to Baia Mare then take another minibu..."s to Breb. But it was all worth it. Maria (who was lovely by the way) came and picked me up and showed me to the hut.The hut is called Casa Mica and it's 150 years old and it was so nice I immediately fell in love with it. Everything is there. Dry wood for the fire, fully equiped kitchen, food, towels. It was perfect.The next day Maria also showed me around and took me to the nearest town and visited the wooden church in Budesti. It was such a amazing place. Dinner is also something worth mentioning. They had this perfect arrangement with a neighbour and you only have to pay 5 euro and you have yourself a homecook meal. It was excellent.   "As so many others I came to see the place where the excellent book "along the enchanted way" by william blacker takes place. He describes breb as the most welcoming place ever and since quite a lot of time past by since he wrote the book I aspected that this might have changed a little. Well, it h..."asn't. The people in breb are still amazingly welcoming and friendly. So is also Maria, the great hostess of the villiage hostel. She made me feel very welcoming and introduced me to the beautiful place. the little house is the cosiest thing I could ever imagine. It has everything: a beautiful fireplace, comfortable beds, a very clean bathroom, a stunning view over a little river and very old, handmade funiture. I would have definitely stayed a night longer than I planned if people from the village would have not invited them to stay with them which was a unique and wonderful experience. You haven't seen Romania if you haven't been at Breb :) " More >
