  "To say that staying in a 130 year old luxury hotel in Del Norte was a surprise is an understatement. Saved from the wrecking ball (literally) by local citizens, the hotel underwent years and years of restoration and it was beautifully accomplished. High-ceilinged rooms with period trim and colors ..."and tasteful reproduction furniture. The hotel and rooms are spotless. Very high quality towels and linens and a very comfortable bed. Bathrooms are all new and modern with toiletries and hair dryer. The front desk personnel were helpful and personable. There had been a mistake (probably on my part) with the reservation and it was cleared up immediately. The sitting room downstairs and small lounge upstairs are very comfortable, with fresh coffee in the morning. I was sorry not to be able to sample the resaurant because the menu looked appealing and it has had some great reviews (both Tripadvisor and locals). WIFI service was excellent. NO Where which is why this is so amazing. The town saved this hundred plus year old hotel and restored it. They..." managed to save that rich heritage combine with all connivence. No national chain but locals who know the area and can direct you to the most amazing sights you would never find. The chef a transplant from some of the best kitchens in L.A. bring with her skills, I have not seen for a long time. Combine that with local produce, fish, and meat you can't lose. How do I know I sat and talked with the Man who runs the place a twenty plus year transplant from Texas. "Treat people right and the rest will work out." He is fond of saying.
