  "We had just one night to get away and had just gotten our Southern Living magazine with an article about Clayton, GA and suggested places to go to, etc. It was a Saturday night and the owners were away, but they had a couple there that goes all over the South and provide B & B "sitting services". ..."They were great. They take over for B & B owners whenever the owners want to get away. I always wondered how owners were able to take vacations themselves. Anyway, it was just as if the owners were there, except they didn't have their normal Saturday night special wine pairing meal. We did have free wine and cheese at 5:30 pm. We had a room with a large sitting room, flat screen and gas pot belly stove in the sitting room. The beds were very plush and comfortable. Breakfast was great. The "subs" knew what they were doing in this respect also - cheese and egg puff, bananas foster. This Inn was built as a home around 1922 and had all types of memorabilia laying around, old magaz...   "I have never written a review before, but just felt I had to for the Old Clayton Inn. We needed a relaxing weekend trip to Lake Burton and the mountains May 3rd - 5th. The Old Clayton Inn exceeded our needs. We have been reluctant to stay in older motels/inns for the obvious reasons. After readi..."ng the great reviews on tripadvisor we took a chance and the reviews were exactly correct. After a six hour drive, the four of us were eager to check in our rooms (rooms #203 and #221 we hand picked the week before from pictures on the Old Clayton Inn's reservation website). The very moment you start communicating with any management or staff in this all interior corridor Inn, you genuinely feel like royalty. That includes front desk, restaurant and cleaning staff. We truly felt like family and I'm not always personable. When you walk into your room, it is like going back in time to a safer, slower and more peaceful time. Beechwood Inn is such a quiet, relaxing, romantic getaway, nestled in the trees. On this trip, the interim innkeepers, Jim and Susan, were there, and they run the inn just..." like David and Gayle! :) They were so friendly and hospitable and made us feel very welcome; we really enjoyed conversing with them over wine, a pepper jelly torte & crackers during Wine-Thirty. The breakfast was awesome: ham, scrambled eggs, pancakes topped with diced strawberries and warm maple syrup. No need for lunch after breakfast here! The decor of this inn, established in 1922, is absolutely beautiful! Our room, the Stekoa Suite, had a newly renovated bathroom. We will be back. :) " More >
