We arrived in Plouer sur Rance at night, and if there's one negative about this whole review is that the property is a little difficult to find. We didn't have any specific address to plug into our GPS system, so we had to stop in the center of town and ask around a bit for directions. We eventually found the home, and it was really close to the center of the village to begin with. Our hostess Rosemary warmly greeted us as we arrived, and she couldn't have been any more welcoming and friendly.   "Manoir de Rigourdaine was such a delightful discovery that we extended our stay to three days. The host, Patrick van Valenberg, speaks excellent English and was extremely helpful about what to see in the area without being intrusive. He turned a large old stone farmhouse into this hotel which has ..."nicely outfitted rooms with views over the Rance river estuary and the surrounding farms. The bedding and bed were very comfortable; the room was well furnished and the bath was very modern with the best heated towel rack I've ever seen. It was chilly when we were there so the in-room heating control was very appreciated and we were quite cozy. The breakfast in the large stone dining room was quite good. From this location with a car you can take many day trips--to Cancale, the Emerald Coast, quaint Dinan and St. Malo. Patrick recommended restaurants if you wanted and helped advise on a hotel for our next stop. This was a terrific, romantic find. " More >
