It was a beautiful drive, scenic and windy roads - even had the chance to enter Glacier National Park. We snowshoed all 3 days we stayed at the inn - all the trails around the property and at the nearby parks were great! We especially loved the Twilight Trail at night. Our stay in the JJ Caboose was perfect for 4 adults (if you don't mind the low ceilings and ladder to sleep in the cupola. We brought food to make our own lunches and dinners, as the meals at the restaurant in the inn are very expensive. " More >

  "We visited the Izaak Walton Inn with a Groupon deal just earlier this spring. Our goal was to see Glacier NP without the tourists and we achieved it! Staying at the Inn helped a lot since a nice quaint lodging and delicious dinner was all we needed after roaming the still partially frozen park. We..." stayed in the hotel portion, you do have the option of renting an original caboose, which looked fantastic! However, you do have to walk to the restaurant and other amenities if you do that. Everything at the Inn is original, retained in good shape and rather charming. The original rooms covered in Great Northern paraphernalia have private bathrooms with showers added. The rooms are old, but well-kept, with the only minor consideration that the walls of the rooms are really thin! So, you would likely hear your neighbors... The dining room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with rather extensive and good menu. The serve staff is very nice and always seemed ready to help with park recomme... " More >

The walls of the bar and pool room are full of articles and pictures about the development, train disasters and other events. There are articles as well, on other aspects of life in the earlier days of the inn and its original purpose. The gift shop has many unusual items, things you do not readily see else where.
