But it turned out much better than I expected. The carpeting appeared to be new, the rooms very clean - they may be somewhat spartan in size - but certainly adequate, the front desk personnel (day and night) were exceptional, very friendly, helpful and congenial. The one problem I had was the in-room coffee - it was terrible - totally unpalatable - don't know if it was the water or that the brewer needed attention - it wasn't the coffee (maxwell house) because I often have that at home - so obviously I didn't drink it - However, the coffee server (FREE) in the Lobby was very very good - made many trips down there. Paul and Lisa at the front desk were highly positive, upbeat, and accommodating, even going so far as to offer to microwave anything I bought ..."at the supermarket in the restaurant kitchen. They even refused a tip when I thanked them for their exceptional efforts. The hotel shines with its details: Wifi is free and effortless to access; there was a jar of free cookies on the front desk; and when the power went out, they gave out free glowsticks. All the typical cheap-hotel amenities were present, clean, and unworn. Even my bottom-price room has a big flat-screen TV and mini fridge. Another review says "shabby," but they must have renovated since then, because everything in top condition, and there are no weird smells.
