It's a bit out of the center but within walking distance. The town is very quiet, although with a lot of local colour and there's a market on some days worth seeing. The beach is also nice for swimming and about a 15min walk. We really enjoyed staying here. If you want to visit the weekly market in Assomada go early. the aluguers make a habit of cruising the town more than several times looking for passengers. You can then take a nice walk from the plateau down to Tarrafal again, ask at the resort, through some amazing landscapes. Be careful though and take a good walking map. • Hotel Cachoeira Tarrafal
  "Paradise on earth!"
  "I cannot praise the Cachoeira Hotel staff enough for their hospitality and friendliness! My four friends and I stayed there for five memorable days. I had initially booked a double room but when I saw the view of Monti Graciosa from one of the suite, I knew I wanted to have breakfast on the balcony..." with that view everyday and upgraded on the spot. I would particularly like to thank Osmar, the affable receptionist who gave us such good tips on what to do on the island, he even taught us some word in Portuguese! He did not even laugh at our awful accents. The only thing criticism (constructive criticism) is that I wish the hotel had a restaurant.. I will definitely go back!! " More >

  "This is a Paradise in Tarrafal. We had 2 sharing apartments with a great terrace overlooking the sea with sundowner. Very big and very nice. Very nice German man who runs the resort. Lots of restaurants in the village, especially the Spanish one. Again!!!!"
