  "Right next to the Botanic Gardens and an Olympic size pool (not open in winter), and about a 10 minute walk into town, or 2 minutes in the car. The park is kept clean and tidy. The amenities block looks fairly new, although it is the traditional multiple-booth style. Contains a booth set up for disa..."bled persons (at least the Gents does!). Kept quite clean while we were there (2 days). The site is rather hilly and although the sites look reasonably level, some levelling chocks will be useful. Power, water and sullage all working. Dump point is an ordinary toilet in a now-closed old amenities block. You just have to be a bit more careful tipping! Lots of bird life. The V-line train goes through nearby early in the morning with a good morning blast. :-) " More >

  "My husband and I stayed here while travelling on motorbikes. The place is beautiful, the staff in reception were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to help us. We decided to upgrade to a luxury suite, and we offered a discount which was really lovely.. The suite was incredible. old world ch..."arm, the most comfortable bed we slept on in our 5 weeks.. The staff offered maps, suggestions on where to eat, we took their advice and went to the Old Theatre Royal and had a amazing mexican meal and listened to great music and even made friends with some of the locals. everyone in the town is very friendly. I only wish we could of stayed longer. I cant remember the name of the staff at reception that day (Friday April 12th) but would personally like to thank the girl who went out of her way for us that night... (she will know who she is).   "I arrived in Castlemaine without a booking at 6 pm, enquired at the Colonial, only two rooms left, one waiting to be up-graded and one luxury room, I ended up in the luxury room and it was FANTASTIC, I just wished I wasn't alone and I had someone to share it with. The staff at the Colonial are great...", nothing is too much trouble, the only thing missing is breakfast in a dining room, I hate eating in my room ! I will return to this motel again and again !
