It has been a wet weekend in June and we've had to manage with 5 small boys ((one borrrowed) yet we have had fun and relaxed. The thing about Ruda is the staff are great, happy and helpful. Wayne in the Cafe Ruda was always helpful, the bar staff, children's team (who are excellent and inclusive with our autistic son who probably looks a little old to be enjoying the entertainment but is large and delayed for his age)- can't fault anyone. Another aspect is that unlike most similar places, the food and drink is not over priced, and is enjoyable. It works in their favour of course as we ate out more than we usually would. The pitch was large, and the view stunnning- even in wet weather the bay first thing in the morning should cheer any soul. The facillities for campers were great- modern, tidy, clean and fresh. However, at such short notice, there were no rooms available so I was offered camping in the garden instead - and at a great rate, which included breakfast. I had access to the family bathroom any time of t..."he day/night, which was wonderful - their shower is excellent - and also enjoyed my breakfasts with other surfers and non-surfers alike. Gizzy and her family go out of their way to make you feel at home. This was never clearer to me than on my first night there when I experienced what I would call a mild hurricane - not ideal in a tent ;-) But they helped me with a dry towel, hot tea and even drove me to retrieve my wetsuit, which had blown away! I thoroughly recommend Thistledoo for single surfers, small groups, etc. who don't need en-suite facilities. Camping there is perfect - pretty sheltered, safe and quiet.   "Stayed here for a short weekend away with my partner. The location is perfect, being at the centre of the village. The owner was friendly, and helpful. The room was clean, and there was fresh milk in the fridge!!! Pros: parking, clean, good breakfast Cons: Poor phone signal (could be a pro!)"
