  "I recently spent 3 nights at The Lodge at Uxmal and I was honestly "blown away"! While I do have a deep interest in all things Mayan, I would go out of my way to stay at the Lodge. My room was wonderful, the grounds are very special, The Lodge is literally across the street from the archeological ..."site... But say you or someone traveling with you had little interest in the site; you should go anyway! From the greeting at the start, we felt very welcome. Every little detail attended to. The mini bar was stocked with just what you might need or want. Did I mention it was hot, hot, hot. No problem... Several beautiful pools, a/c, fans etc. but now for the gem!! The food was extraordinary! The service in the restaurant was perfect. If you do what you should and go with the Yucatecan food on the menu...exquisite! The bitter orange (not bitter!) sauce for the giant camerones (shrimp) was amazing, the fabulous chicken in banana leaves, the omelets with mint or Chaya, too many fab... " More >

  "I really struggled with the rating of this review as it originally was going to be an 'average' review but the service turned it into an excellent. Let me explain why... As noted in the title of the review, this place oozes with a fascinating and storied history that is very tastefully presented i..."n and around the rooms. That alone is worth added enjoyment to any stay here and enough to warrant another 'tick' up. We chose this site as I found this to be the best quality for value option around Uxmal and I feel that it met the mark but we were disappointed with certain things. The service in the on site restaurant after the light show was non existant due to a tour buffet. After we were seated in a table that could seat about eight (2 of us), nobody looked in on us for one of those extended periods of annoyance that was long enough to get up and leave...so we left.
