  "Second time at this hotel...lovely location. Room was in the main block, quiet and comfortable. The main restuarant was closed, so we ate in the bar...lovely food with enormous portions, so dont be too ambitious Staff very friendly and helpul Will go back for a third stay!!"

  "We were staying at a large hotel in Alston and the receptionist recommended Alston House for an evening meal. We booked our table but arrived earlier than expected. Carol welcomed us in the fabulously decorated bar and we sat on one of the many comfy sofas eating olives and sipping our drinks. She..." then brought out a warm freshly baked loaf and butter to nibble on !!!!!!! Our meals were faultless and asked her to thank the chef Michael who was her husband.   "We arrived on a beautifully sunny Tuesday afternoon and was greeted by Lana waiting for us at the front door. Like all the other guests, we booked our 2 night stay using special offer vouchers. Our room overlooked the garden with the stream to the right and sheep and lambs roaming . . . Very pretty ..."and relaxing. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom warm (which was very acceptable after cold days) The curtains were just beautiful. The breakfasts on both mornings were delicious; the smoked salmon arranged in the shape of a flower with scrambled eggs in the centre - just beautiful. Prior to our dinner on our 2nd night we had a drink in the bar. Lana brought out warm peanuts, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Dinner was a fabulous experience and fully expected Greg Wallace and John Torode of Materchef to appear to judge the food. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
