  "Hillcrests location is at first a little deceiving ,set back one block from main street and appears out of the way. Once inspected it was a delightful location and only 200m walk to main st anyway, as everything is very close in Cooktown. A lovely Quiet spot on a large block running back off street...". Plenty of off street parking. Once inside, the guest house has been extensively renovated in modern but tasteful period décor. We chose the larger of self contained accommodation units down stairs,with ours still being within main guest house .Two more units are detached from main building with parking space. Remainder of Guesthouse is Guest rooms with shared bathroom and Kitchen facilities Katrina the host maintains the guest house meticulously ,including the onsite Pool.(the wind during our visit made the air temp just a little cool so didn't end up swimming sadly :( ) Although we did watch the surprise Solar eclipse from there (thanks to borrowing Katrinas eclipse glasses!) Awesome check in, staff were very friendly, loved the welcome pack of information about the area. The amenities are unisex, I wasn't sure if I would like that but I loved it - so convenient, more..." parks should have them. Grassy shaded sites, very good facilities. Dinner at the bowls club is a must, as is a cold beer at the cooktown hotel. Sunrise at grassy hill was stunning where u can enjoy 360degree views of the area.
