The rooms were very neat and clean. The service was very good! Exceeded all my expectations. A hot breakfast is served every morning. The home-made jams with freshly baked patisserie were to die for!!! as we found out the hotel is currently run by a very nice couple that are involved in the every day operations of the hotel.   "Overall mixed feelings about Hotel Richelieu despite a truly friendly and pleasant stay. The hotel's strong asset is its very professional and great staff. On the positive side: the service (as mentioned, truly friendly and efficient), the quality of the food (and dining room with view on the sea..."), the location and organizational design of the hotel. The room was spacious (cottage superior) with a very practical small separate room for our 4 year old daughter. On the more negative side: the hotel needs a bit of renovation. The lighting in the rooms was not efficient (either too much light or none at all - impossible to read a book while your partner tries to sleep). The bathroom fixtures were outdated. The room furniture was out-of-date and worn down. The same comments will apply to the SPA which is truly old and run down....while clean and with a truly friendly staff.   "My wife and I stayed here for three nights a few weeks ago for a combined hotel half board and spa. The hotel itself is not really a five star hotel (I have stayed in several five-star hotels in my many travels so I definately knwo one when I see one!). The rooms are fine but a bit dated and need ..."some redoing (carpet a bit faded and stained, some wallpaper peeling off the wall in teh bathroom, some mould on the bathtub joints, no shower curtain...) but the experience overall was fabulous. We had dinner in the restaurant each evening (luckily - it seems as if everythign else on this small island was closed mid-December). Each night an imaginative menu based on seafood. Nice service and delicious food. The spa treatments were very nice - with sea water and attentive staff. One day we rented bicycles from the hotel and toured around the island (I did think that 12 euros each could have been offered as is the case in other lux hotel I have stayed in) but not much else to do in the w...
