  "A large party (21 people) from my motorcycle club stay here every year and this has been consistent on all visits. The rooms are good with a TV. There is no tea/coffee making facilities. The bar is a good area to meet up in the evening and the restaurant has a buffet dinner with a good selection of ..."German food. Breakfast is also buffet and with a good selection of the usual German cold meats and eggs and bacon. It is displayed as 4 star but I would not agree with this rating when compared with other 4 star hotels I have stayed in and think is it really a 3 star. There is a private car park but I am not sure if this needs to be paid for as we were on motorcycles. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the town and all the pubs and restaurants there. If you do decide to go there to eat get there early as they all close at 9pm and are very reluctant to seat you after 8pm!   "We stayed here during a motortrip in the Eifel. We actually booked another hotel in Monschau, but they were overbooked and arranged for us rooms at the Villa Burgau. The host was very warm and welcoming. The rooms were decorated in the style of the house. They were clean, with a small bathroom. Brea..."kfast was served in the breakfastroom and was very good with fresh coffee. The host asked several times if everything was sufficient. We could park the motorbikes in the garage. We picked the other hotel because it was in the center of Monschau and had a restaurant and bar. Villa Burgau is situated about 300 meters out of the center and has no restaurant or bar. But it will not be an issue if coming to Monschau again. Villa Burgau can be recommended for a nice stay in Monschau. " More >

  "Having read a lot of varying reviews on the quality of the Carat hotel, we decided to stay there after all, since it's the only hotel in Monschau with a pool. Previous visitors seemed to have issues with the size of the lift (yes, there is only one and yes, it's not very big - but even though ther..."e are 6 storeys, they're easily walkable - without suitcases, at any rate), the parking rate (has gone up to 7 euros per day, it's quite expensive, on the other hand you have to pay for parking in the whole village between 10am and 7 pm - also 7 euros). Another grievance was the music that was being played throughout the hotel - we only heard it in the bar and the reception area as well as the beergarden. And quite liked it, actually. We also had no issues with the softness/hardness of pillows or mattresses. The fan in the room is on the noisy side, but can be turned off and the window left open. There is some traffic in the morning on the street side, but we weren't really bothered by it. ... " More >
