  "I have stayed twice (in 2009 and then in 2013) in the Hotel El Ruha and enjoyed it both times for its faded charm and 'oasis' feel. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel is not 5*, although it is probably 5* by eastern Turkish standards. Remember that once you leave Istanbul, you are not neces..."sarily going to get the same standard of accommodation that you would in a western country. However, in comparison with what else is on offer in Urfa, this is definitely a good choice. The rooms vary in size; we had a suite this time, with a separate lounge overlooking the castle and mosques, and bedroom. My husband (who is Turkish) booked and I think this helped us secure a better room. Our minibar did not work but the staff did bring us cold water to compensate. There is no alcohol anyway so we were not bothered about it. The dining areas and lobby are beautifully decorated with many local artefacts on display, and some tasteful friezes around the ceilings.
