  "We were driving from Reykjavik to Akureyi during the New Year period, when a storm hit the country and we got caught in a blizzard and got stuck on the Oxnadalur mountain pass on Highway 1 approaching Akureyi. We had accomodation booked in Akureyi, but as were unable to make it across the mountain pass, we had nowhere to stay for the night it seemed. The mountain rescue staff called the owner of this hotel and so she opened it just for us, so we could stay the night until the storm passed. We were extrrmely grateful, and I think this just highlights the kindness and generosity that we experinced from Icelandics throughout our trip in the country. The owner was unable to provide a cooked meal that evening, but did offer to return to provide breakfast for us in the morning.   "Lovely cottage - wish we could have stayed longer!"
  "We had one night at Hestasport as we travelled round Iceland. We were in text contact with the owner and they were there to meet us at the office when we arrived at 8.30pm, and they were so friendly and welcoming. We were in the little cottage for 2 people, which is outside the circle of houses arou..."nd the hotpot, which was ideal for us as we like to be out the way. We found the cottage to be imaculate inside and finshed to a very high standard. They had also thought of all the extras you could need e.g. there were crocs and a dressing gown to wear to walk down to the hotpot in. There was even a chocolate on the pillow! We used the oven to cook tea and it was all really clean. We didn't get in the hotpot until 10pm but it was lovely and warm and relaxing with just the two of us in there, and the northern lights even made a brief appearance!
