We had some doubts about choosing it because of the very mixed reviews, with several "terribles", but we chose the NBBR based on a recommendation from a friend who told us that the place was much improved after a change of management. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The managers are attentive (but not too much) and friendly. The food, especially the seafood, is excellent, not at all greasy or heavy, which will be welcome to anyone who has spent a bit of time in Tanzania. The only small negative is that the breakfasts were merely OK, as noted by another positive reviewer, and the coffee is instant Africafe, although at least I prefer this to filter coffee and to be fair I never asked them for espresso, as I didn't miss it.   "The NBBR has certainly improved but the French owners did have a certain 'je ne sais quoi' and ran the place with a typical French touch...when we were there in november 2012 we could not help but noticing that the bar was all but empty; only beer and some soft drinks! Food as always was great, do..." try the Fishermans Dish! Breakfast is basic but fine. The toaster was unserviceable so our bread was heated in the griddle iron! The rooms on the beach front have all been renovated and have new airco's which are quiet and produce cool air. No mosquito netting at the time of our visit but a spraycan of Doom is available. Spray and evacuate the room, come back after half an hour or so if you care for your health... The beach is pleasant if not quite dirty with debris and flotsam. There is enough idle staff about who could spend an hour or so cleaning the beach each morning... The stardeck is rickety and has no fence so be very very careful there!   "We have just spent two glorious days at Lazy Lagoon, it is our second visit and it was total relaxation. From the moment we were collected from the mainland by the boatman the holiday had begun. The new manager is very friendly and helpful and has made a few changed including candle light supper on..." the beach on certain days. The food was excellent, lots of fresh sea food and salads . The rooms are all facing the sea and at this time of year a cool breeze and the sound of the sea are very peaceful and restful.
