The hotel is as charming and welcoming as Bishop's Castle itself and we had very pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and bright and the refurbishing of this beautiful..." building has been done gently and respectfully. Very nice bathrooms and stunning views from many of the windows! The staff is helpful and gives proper advice on where to go for walks during the day. The area has lots to offer. A list of suggestions for the next day is printed to pick up in the reception as goodnight reading each evening. The restaurant is excellent and well worth a visit on its own. The atmosphere is relaxed, good local ales are served. At time the pub area of the restaurant can be noisy which can be heard in the room above (No 4), but from late evening and well into the morning there is no sounds to be heard except birdsong.   "A superb, immaculate gem in a great location"
  "Day 5 of our Lands End to John O Groats cycle and three of us arrived after a tough ride into a northerly wind. It was worth the end of day uphill ride to a superbly located, lovely looking property. First of all our bikes were securely locked away and after a bit of fun booking us in (we got to see..." all the rooms and they all look superb) my wife and I settled into a very clean, comfortable double room; with our fellow cyclist in an equally clean, comfortable room. All the family made us very welcome and from arrival to departure made us very welcome, without being 'over' attentive. Breakfast was excellent and again the dining room was clean and the 'Poppy' theme gives the decor and crockery an attractive theme. Over 16 nights we got to stay in 16 different hotels / guest houses and looking back The Poppy House was up there as one of the very best.
