The service was excellent - very friendly but discreet. The second night we opted for the bar menu. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered the choice of eating in the bar or the restaurant. Again... the food was superb! I had the best tasting smoked salmon ever! It was served as a salmon and prawn salad which was beautifully presented. My husband opted for the fish and chips which he felt were the best he had ever tasted - eat your heart out Whitby!!. The Strathmore Arms came as an idea to me as I needed somewhere for me and my partner to stay whilst visiting my parents. My partner has little positive experience with staying away from home; as landlords dismiss her as 'hassle' so I arrived quite anxious. My anxieties were totally alleviated as Anthony and Selina were less like landlords and more like old friends who were having us round for a weekend despite only meeting me once. They were hands down the best hosts I've ever been with. Despite my partner having complex dietary and health requirements due to asthma and eczema Anthony and Selina didn't let us down once.
