Visited this morning for breakfast. The restaurant staff, particularly Charlotte made us feel uncomfortable and very unwanted. She was snappy, barked at us to look at the board and then accused one of us for having more items than we should, when we actually had...the correct number. If she's not a morning person, and doesn't like a customer service industry, I would suggest she looks at a different role. We will not be returning. We had a very personal, family reason for coming here today, which was very much spoilt by this young person.More
Hadn’t been for a while and completely understand prices have risen but so very expensive. We shared a toasted sandwich which came with a few chips and a token salad £10.95 plus a cappuccino and a flat white came to £19 less a few pennies...!! I know shouldn’t have stayed but was a treat out. The jumbo sausage roll was £11.95 !!!!!More
Always an absolute pleasure to go to Haskins. Great food great service. Jane the cafe manager was fabulous caring kind and very professional. Thank you Jane. Always a wonderful experience.
Over the years that I have been visiting here, this place is more like a restaurant with a Garden Centre attached, than a Garden Centre with a restaurant. The breakfast they serve is not particularly cheap, but it is usually good. The cafe operates on...a self-service basis but the tables are cleared away afterwards by the staff. My usual choice is the 8-item breakfast which certainly gives you a good start to your day. You can choose from any 8 items plus toast (which doesn't count towards the 8 items). The breakfast food is freshest at 9am and we try to arrive just after that so that the 9am queue has dispersed but the items are still good. Some variations are served on a call-order basis using a remote buzzer system which alerts you when your breakfast is ready for collection at the counter. Recently ( spring 2024) the restaurant area has undergone a significant refresh with new flooring, window accessories and fabrics in some areas.More
The new cafe refurb is a definite improvement however, it seems incredibly badly planned from a logistics point of view. Waiters/waitresses are now only clearing one table then walking away with one tray to the far side of the cafe leaving people waiting with hot...food for clean tables to sit at. You either need more staff or more than one drop off point for waiters as it’s hardly efficient time management at present.More
Visit this coffee shop a lot. Feel that now Nicky has joined the team the restaurant area has improved. She is such a breath of fresh air. Takes time to chat to customers and nothing seems to be too much of a problem. Very enthusiastic...in her work and she looks part of the team. Thank you once again Nicky a pleasure to meet you.More
Considering this shop is supposed to be dog friendly the service is not very good. At the tills our lovely golden retriever was next to me and as I was paying she put her head on the checkout area and the lady jumped back her...whole body, arms in the air, way over the top. She then didn’t say a word the whole time of serving us. Another older male member of staff literally looked at our dog then gave me the evils. As for the cafe area, I made an honest mistake thinking dogs were allowed in the cafe, we were sat at the back by the back door out the way. Two members of staff were smiling and one even came over to say hello, then a female which must have been a manager came over and told us to leave, which is fine, but at least be friendly about it. Didn’t finish our coffee and left. I won’t be returning to Haskins.More
A sour taste in the mouth. Got 2 main meals and 2 teas. We decided to treat ourselves to cake afterwards, £9.90, so not cheap. Went to the till to pay and ask for more water for our tea. Was refused. Told by the cashier...they have been told not to do it any more. Asked to speak to a manager, a young man who was evidently barista of the week, who said the same, so I asked to speak to a proper manager who can make decisions, to which I was told there was no one available, even though he didn't check. We ate our cake and walked out, not buying the Christmas goodies from them, the main reason for our journey. Beware, every other cafe and garden centre does this across the country. Yet, this store can't.More
Always give credit where credit is due. The food was lovely and our experience made better by the lovely customer service. All staff we spoke to/saw were very friendly and approachable. Truly a breath of fresh air!
Haskins Garden Centre has been the designated spot for me & my girlfriend's too meet at every few weeks, for a good chinwag over coffee, cake & scones for many years now. There is a big variety of fresh food including gorgeous cakes & sandwiches...(which are all freshly homemade). We've always visited the restaurant on Wednesday's or Sunday's for years, but recently our visits have been made even better, due to the service, attentiveness and all round kind considerate nature from the server Nik - she has beautiful kind brown eyes & genuinely wants to help in any way. Nik goes above and beyond to accomadate us (my friend is vegetarian - Nik always remembers that, even though she probably sees lots of customers daily). She always greets us with a big smile, makes us laugh and feel comfortable. You don't notice how much difference it makes to your visit, until you experience her exceptional service, especially when we visited on a Monday last visit and Nik wasn't working that day, it seemed like the place had fallen apart without her presence! We will make sure we stick to visiting on Wednesday's or Sunday's as we always have done in the future. Overall, lovely food, great service & friendly inviting atmosphere...Oh and lastly the christmas decs are excellent aswell! ☺More
Absolutely appalling. Went for a £14.95! roast dinner, Beef was tough, Yorkshire Pudding was chewy, Roast potatoes - 3 miniature pieces of potato that looked like they'd been in the oven for 5 minutes, Peas were like bullets. My own fault I suppose I should...have taken it back and not paid but I decided I'd just never go there again.More
Love this garden centre and bornally have a drink and something to eat. As with everywhere prices are up and portion sizes are down, however was quite prepared for a toastie with hardly any filling and a staff member that wouldn't exchange or refund. Normally...it's good service and good food with fairly decent portions, although its the second time I've had a lacking of fillings now.More
Someone told me to try Haskins for a coffee..... What a surprise I had, a great choice of cooked meals , Pastries and fantastic cakes. The service was great , there is a large comfortable seating area and clean toilets. This place is a hidden...secret and probably the best place for a coffee in Ferndown.More
